Richard Heuser, MD, was recently inducted into the 2018 class of Master Interventionalists of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) (MSCAI). Dr. Heuser joins a select group of 50 outstanding innovators in cardiology. The individuals in this group have demonstrated excellence in invasive/interventional cardiology over the course of their career manifested by a commitment to the highest levels of clinical care, innovation, publication and teaching. Dr. Heuser co-directed the first program at the annual SCAI meeting in San Diego of New Innovations and Cardiovascular Interventions and Technology Summit at the meeting.
Dr. Heuser has published over 400 medical articles, including 4 dozen textbook chapters, over 200 original medical manuscripts and has edited 6 textbooks in cardiology. Two of his textbooks have been listed in the American College of Cardiology as one of the top textbooks in 2000 and 2005. In 2016, his renal denervation textbook was listed among “good books: in the American Journal of Cardiology. Dr. Heuser has 22 issued patents, co-owns another half-dozen and has 10 pending patents.
Frequently listed as a “Top Doc” in national publications, he has the honor of being named in the past as the Top Cardiologist in the Columbia HCA System, the largest hospital system worldwide. He has been fortunate to represent Arizona as the only practicing cardiologist who is frequently invited to international meetings to present findings of work developed in Phoenix. He was awarded The Top Innovation award for his technology at the 2016 CRT meeting. He was also named Physician of the Year at the 2016 Arizona Business Magazine Healthcare Leadership Awards. He recently was also honored to participate in the 40th Anniversary of Angioplasty in Zurich, Switzerland.
